For pure audio sound, try the Sennheiser HD650 or the AKG K701. these run 450 -500 bucks, but are pretty much the best. If that’s a little spendy try the Sennhiser HD580 at 200 bucks. Or for really good sound for the money the Goldring DR-100 or Grado SR80 at 100 bucks. I stay away from noise cancelling phones for pure audio listening, because they add a signal to counteract ambient noise. You get about the same noise reduction by using a good sealing around the ear ‘phone. Do a litte research online at AudioAdvisor, AcousticSounds or Crutchfield, there are lots of good ‘phones from AKG, Sennheiser, Stax, Ultrasone, Grado. I have found that the really great sounding headphones do start around that 100 dollar mark, most at or above that price giving way better sound than units under 100
